The Microbiome & Obesity

How your Microbiota impacts your weight?

What is a probiotic and why you need it

According to the World Health Organization “probiotics are living organisms that when administered in adequate quantities benefits your health.”

By balancing the intestinal microbiota (gut flora, the microbe population living in your intestine), whether by introducing the missing strains or increasing the number of the existing ones to healthy levels, probiotics bring a lot of health benefits, mainly aid digesting food, control of appetite and satiety, they destroy pathogens and produce vitamins.

Probiotics coat the intestinal tract lining and provide a barrier for microorganisms that arrives with the food you eat, they kill many pathogens such as bad bacteria, fungi, yeast, viruses and parasites.

Caring for your intestinal microbiota is one of the most important things you can do to take your HEALTH to the NEXT LEVEL!

6 Ways Your Microbiota Controls your Health  gut-probiotics

The human body contains about 100 trillion bacteria, more than ten times the number of cells in the entire body!

The ideal ratio between “good” and “bad” bacteria should be 85 percent/15 percent.

About 80 percent of the immune system is in the gut!

In the past few years we had lots of scientific information about the role of the microbiota in health. Your microbiota has a crucial role in:

  1. The genetic expression,
  2. Body weight and composition,
  3. Immune system,
  4. Mental health,
  5. Memory,
  6. All kinds of diseases from diabetes to cancer, and many more.

Are probiotics linked to body weight?

Probiotic Lactobacillus gasseri SBT2055 may help in WEIGHT LOSS, according to new research. After 12 weeks of supplementation, the averaged 4.6 percent reduction in abdominal fat and 3.3 percent reduction in subcutaneous fat.

Other studies showed that gut bacteria from obese people can absorb more calories from food. Obese people had about 20 percent more firmicutes and 90 percent less bacteroidetes than slim people.

Firmicutes help the body to extract calories from complex sugars and deposit those calories as fat.

Bacteria may cause low-grade inflammation, contributing to obesity and difficulty shedding excess weight. The”good” bacteria control the overgrowth of the “bad” bacteria, lowering the levels of inflammation.

Consuming probiotics can reduce body weight and BMI.

Your intestinal flora is essential to your HEALTH and IDEAL WEIGHT!

Researchers recently discovered (#ad) protein-digesting strain probiotic.

Why is this relevant?

Undigested protein is a leading cause of WEIGHT GAIN, by cleaning undigested protein in the gut it opens the way for, optimum nutrient absorption, metabolism and energy.

All pathogens are protein-based life forms – yeasts, molds, viruses, parasites.

A probiotic designed to break down foreign proteins will CLEAN your system and will help you (#ad) LOSE WEIGHT.

What destroys your microbiota?

The appropriate ratio in your intestinal flora is crucial, however in our modern world today it´s not easy to have a balanced flora. Why?

  • Meats or dairy from animals fed a steady diet of antibiotics,
  • Drinking chlorinated water,
  • Processed foods,
  • Antibacterial soap,
  • Agricultural chemicals,
  • Pollution,
  • Antibiotics,
  • NSAIDS – non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Note – when you take antibiotics always make sure to replenish your beneficial bacteria immediately, if you don’t the bad bacteria will populate your intestinal tract and you have the root cause for candida over-growth and dysbiosis.

              9 Benefits of probiotics:

  1. Promotes a healthy immune system,
  2. Helps to low the number of colds,
  3. Prevents allergies,
  4. Produces lactoferrin, vitamin K, some vitamins B, enzymes,
  5. Helps break down fiber that the body can’t digest, turning it into short-chain fatty acids like butyrate,
  6. Protects from over-growth of bad bacteria,
  7. Digest food and nutrient absorption,
  8. Improvement in the health and appearance of the skin,
  9. Protection against lactose and casein intolerance.

How to optimize your intestinal flora

Most yogurts on the market today have no benefit, because of pasteurization (pasteurization kills probiotics), so what options do you have?

LOOK FOR THE ANCIENT FOODS OF THE PAST:

Do we have to consult with a Doctor before starting to take probiotics?

    1. Hi Abel,

Thanks for your comments. You made a great resolution to your health, keep going. There’s no need to consult a Doctor, before starting to take a probiotic, you can start anytime, this is something natural to your body, it will not harm your health. If you feel any detox reaction, just slow down, give it one day break or take less quantity, it is doing his job, cleaning your system.

      Wishing you great health,

Thanks for sharing this great article on Probiotics for weight loss

What’s the best time of day to take a probiotic? How old do children have to be before taking probiotics?

     Keep up the good work!

    1. Hi S.J,

Thanks for reading my article and comment. The commercial yogurts are not your best option, because they have been pasteurized and this process kills the good bacteria, so they  have little benefit. You have better options like  Kefir or fermented vegetables like sauerkraut, you can even make it at home, it’s easy. I use to eat these foods and in addition supplement with a probiotic, to make sure I have enough good bacteria. Children can take probiotics also, or kefir, you can open the capsule and mix with water or milk. I would start at the age of three, particularly if they eat sweet stuff, or take antibiotics.

      Take care,

      Isabella
