What Are Superfoods?

Superfoods are nutrient-rich foods that are considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being.

They are not just plant-based fruits or vegetables, but also include cuts of protein, dairy, wild salmon.

Superfoods can help you lose weight, and also promote overall health and wellness!

It’s a non-diet DIET.

Superfoods should be accessible to everyone and commonly have above-average quantities of natural health-boosting and disease-fighting nutrients, including antioxidants, phytonutrients, and essential fatty acids.

The health benefits backed by peer-reviewed and scientific studies. To make claims of anti-aging, disease protection, and other health benefits must be supported by solid scientific evidence.

  • Raspberries,
  • Strawberries,
  • Blackberries,
  • Blueberries,
  • Cranberries,
  • Goji Berries,
  • Açai Berries.

Berries, you can enjoy them as part of your breakfast, as a dessert, on a
salad or in a smoothie, the health benefits of berries are as versatile
as their culinary applications.

Let’s highlight some superfoods you may be less aware;

BLUEBERRIES:      blueberries

The science illustrating a major link between blueberries and brain health is extensive.

They’re rich in antioxidant compounds known as anthocyanins, which have been shown to improve brain function.

In a study with 9 elderly human participants, a team at the University of Cincinnati found that, compared to a comparable group that was given a placebo, participants who were given blueberry juice scored higher on memory tests, had improved word list recall, and experienced lower depressive symptoms.

And while blueberries might be the dementia-fighting champions of the berry universe, they’re not the only beneficial berries.

Berries of all types, including strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and all the rest, bring you critical minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, flavonoids, polyphenols, and a host of other important phytonutrients that are good for your whole health.

açai berries

Once the berry was studied by researchers, they discovered that the Açaí contains 300 percent more antioxidants than blueberries or grapes. Its ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) value, which is a scientific measurement of its antioxidant capacity, is impressive.

A gram of raw Açaí berry off the tree may have an ORAC value over 1,200, but by the time it arrives in your kitchen, that number may likely be under 100!

Antioxidants, such as those found in the Açaí, have been linked with an increase in youthful health, energy, and stamina, and they help your immune system to operate more efficiently.

When you consume foods and nutrients loaded with antioxidants, you’re super-charging your body to fight off the effects of pollution, chemicals, and the increasing onslaught of germs, bacteria, and viruses that constantly surround us.

In addition to the highest amount of antioxidants of any fruit, the Açaí is also packed with other health-giving nutrients. For example, it contains a huge amount of essential fatty acids. Nearly 1/3 of the Açaí berry consists of this good kind of fat, 74 percent of it coming from unsaturated fats such as omega 3, omega 6 and omega 9.

Oleic acid, a monounsaturated omega-9 acid, and linoleic acid, a polyunsaturated omega-6 acid, help to lower unhealthy cholesterol (LDL) levels and maintain healthy cholesterol (HDL) levels. These fats also increase the absorption of vitamins like A, E, D, and K, which are basic to good health.

Açaí’s high-fiber content may help you shed some excess weight. Because fiber has little or no calories, it fills you up so you aren’t tempted to overeat.

Superfoods for a Super Boost

Dark green leafy vegetables are an excellent source of nutrients
including folate, zinc, calcium, iron, magnesium, vitamin C and fiber.
They are so powerful because of their potential to reduce your risk of
chronic illnesses including heart disease and type 2 diabetes.

Studies have shown that carotenoids possess the capacity to scavenge
DNA damaging free radicals, suppress angiogenesis, inhibit cell
proliferation and induce apoptosis. Studies also support significant
association between dietary intake and circulating levels of carotenoids
and reduction in cancer risk of various organs.

green algae

Micro-algae Chlorella and Spirulina

Both chlorella and spirulina are microscopic green micro-algae that grow in fresh water. They are so nutritionally dense that are considered to contain every nutrient required by the human body.

These superfoods range in size from 2 to 8 microns, which is about the same size as a human blood cell. They appear green due to their chlorophyll content.

Chlorella and spirulina are the most amazing food sources on Earth.

Spirulina contains twelve times the digestible protein of beef and a much healthier mineral balance.

Let’s look inside,

The nutritional composition in chlorella and spirulina:
  • High-quality complete protein / Chlorella is 58% protein,
  • All the B vitamins,
  • Vitamin C,
  • Vitamin E,
  • Macrominerals: calcium, magnesium, zinc, potassium, and many more,
  • Trace minerals,
  • Omega-3 fatty acids including GLA,
  • Mucopolysaccharides,
  • Beta-carotene,
  • Nucleic acids: RNA, DNA,
  • Chlorophyll.

Did you know that a phytochemical found in chlorella may actually
rebuild nerve damage in the brain and nervous system? That’s why
chlorella is being used in the recovery of patients with Alzheimer’s and
Parkinson’s disease.

Essential fatty acids such as GLA are missing in our modern diets and yet are critical for healthy brain function.

Most people are malnourished, even being overweight. That weight has come primarily from consuming massive amounts of refined carbohydrates that lack any notable nutritional content.

They are overfed, but undernourished.

Chlorella and spirulina may help prevent or ease the following conditions:
  1. Obesity,
  2. Insulin resistance,
  3. Diabetes,
  4. Hypoglycemia,
    green supreme food
  5. Arthritis,
  6. Depression,
  7. Liver disorders,
  8. Intestinal ulcers,
  9. Hemorrhoids,
  10. Detoxification,
  11. Asthma,
  12. High blood pressure,
  13. Constipation,

  15. Infections,
  16. Inflammation of joints and tissues,
  17. Body odor / breath odor,
  18. Essential fatty acid deficiencies,
  19. Mineral deficiencies.

Chlorophyll demonstrated healing abilities such as: it helps destroying tumors, rebuilding damaged nerve tissue, enhancing brain function, among others.

That’s why getting chlorella and spirulina into the diet can have amazing health benefits!

This is the nutrition your body has been craving for years!

Both chlorella and spirulina are particularly useful for:
  1. Poor digestion and assimilation (these micro-algae are easy to digest and absorb),
  2. Poor vitality and anemia,
  3. Anyone taking prescription drugs, spirulina protects the kidneys and liver,
  4. Those who are overweight or obese,
  5. People who engage in physical exercise,
  6. People with low energy levels.

Chlorella aside from being a complete protein and containing all the B vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin E, and the major minerals, it has been found to:

  1. Improve the immune system,
  2. Improve digestion,
  3. Detoxify the body,
  4. Accelerate healing,
  5. Protect against radiation,
  6. Aid in the prevention of degenerative diseases,

  8. Relieve arthritis pain,
  9. Help with weight loss.

Chlorella and Heavy Metal Detox

Heavy metal toxicity and chemical toxicity, is one of the most problematic health hazards of our lives.

Chlorella has the ability to bind to heavy metal toxins, allowing them to be safely excreted from your body.

It’s particularly crucial for systemic mercury elimination, because the majority of mercury is rid through your stool.

Once the mercury burden is lowered from your intestines, mercury from other body tissues will more readily migrate into your intestines where chlorella will work to remove it.

In order to optimize heavy metal detox, you’ll want to take at least four grams of chlorella every day, year-round.

Spirulina’s predigested protein provides building material soon after ingestion, without the energy-draining side effects of meat protein;

its mucopolysaccharides relax and strengthen connective tissue while reducing the possibility of inflammation;

its simple carbohydrates yield immediate yet sustained energy;

its GLA fatty acids improve hormonal balance;

and its protein-bonded vitamins and minerals, assimilate better than the synthetic variety.

Spirulina can generally be considered an appropriate food for those who exercise vigorously, as evidenced by the many world-class athletes who use it.

(in Healing With Whole Foods by Paul Pitchford)

Sarcopenia, the loss of skeletal muscle mass, strength, and function due to gradual decline in the regeneration of skeletal muscle fibers observed with advancing age. Studies findings may indicate the beneficial effect of Chlorella. vulgaris in muscle regeneration during aging thus may prevent sarcopenia in the elderly.

I consume spirulina as an extra protein source, and I eat chlorella
for heavy metals detoxification and for all the health enhancing
properties they have.

    I love blueberries.

And while blueberries could be the dementia-fighting champs of the berry world, they’re not the only useful berries.

Berries  like strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, bring you essential minerals, vitamins, antioxidants, flavonoids, polyphenols, and phytonutrients that benefit your entire wellness. They’re abundant in antioxidant substances called anthocyanins, which have revealed to enhance mind features.
